Plan. Implement. Relax.

Financial planning is the process of uncovering ways to create Wealth Beyond Investment Returns.  Many of our clients are surprised how different strategies can stretch their assets without investing one more dollar!

Statistics show that people who seek expertise in financial planning are financially more successful than those who do not.

Your investments are just one way to create wealth. The key to a successful financial plan is understanding all the puzzle pieces and how they fit together. Once we have a clear picture, we then tie your cash flow needs directly to your investment strategy, incorporating individual dividend stocks for growth, and bonds for stability and income. Our investment priority is to help protect your assets during downturns in the market.

We start by identifying where you are in your financial life and where you want to be. Through in-depth discussions we discover together what you want to accomplish and how to get there. We take into consideration your:

  • Income
  • Liabilities
  • College Plans
  • Tax Reduction
  • Cash Flow
  • Insurance
  • Medical Needs
  • And More
  • Assets
  • Retirement
  • Debt Reduction

Once your Financial Plan has been established, we work with you to implement the recommendations upon your request. Our investment approach is built upon years of expertise and an emphasis on the things that can be controlled. It is more about managing risk and deciding on the best options to safeguard your wealth. The plan takes into consideration all your financial pieces including your income, living expenses and investments. It will show everything you need to know about your financial situation and details your options to reach financial success.

A Financial plan reduces the risk of costly mistakes, saves you time, eliminates confusion and maximizes your ability to keep your hard-earned money.  We keep you abreast of the ever-changing stock market and legislation that impacts your plan. Managing your money is a job for a financial adviser who cares about your success.

Investment Management

Our goal is to capture the upside of the market and limit the downside, not through market timing but by investing in proven companies that pay dividends. Historically, dividend stock companies have outperformed during downturns in the market*. We look for companies with strong revenues, balance sheets and a long history of increasing dividends. Reinvesting the dividends increases your shares and consequently increases your dividends creating a compounding effect.

Albert Einstein —'Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it ... he who doesn't ... pays it.'

Our fee-only structure is based on a percentage of the value of your account. When your account goes up, we share in your success. If your account goes down due to the market, our fees also go down. If you are invested in mutual funds, likely you are already paying an internal management fee that is comparable to ours.   Your asset allocation is tied directly to your cash withdrawal needs in retirement and is unique to every client. As an example, if your portfolio is $600,000 and you need to withdraw $30,000 annually from your assets to supplement your social security, we would set up an asset dedication strategy as follows:

1.   The first $30,000 is held in cash. Cash provides security and is guaranteed.

2.   The next five years of withdrawals, or $150,000, is invested in guaranteed securities and short to intermediate bonds that add stability to your portfolio.

3.   The remainder of your portfolio, or $420,000, is invested for compound growth in dividend stocks and growth index funds. This portion will grow without being touched for a minimum of six years, giving it plenty of time to compound and recover from any downturns that naturally occur in the market. Over six years, at an 8% average annual return, this would grow to $666,487.

* Past performance is not a guarantee of future performance.

Pre and Post Divorce Planning

Divorce can be stressful and overwhelming, making it difficult to make clear decisions.  The decisions you make today will impact your future and attorneys are not financial advisers.  There is never a time that is more important than now to seek good financial advice.

Not all assets are created equal. Many assets are subject to taxes that reduce the value of those assets.  We can educate you regarding your options; and help you make sound decisions before you sign the final paperwork.

Initially you may feel secure about your financial situation.  However, statistics show that many, especially women, experience financial difficulties within three to five years after the divorce.  With a plan, necessary financial adjustments can be made now, rather than waiting until it is too late.

Having been through her own divorce, Sue has personal empathy and understanding. We can walk you through this difficult time.
